AB Seaman Job Description

This role forms part of a fantastic team of which you will be a key member by playing an active role in deck operations such as docking, undocking, assisting with the unloading and loading when the vessel is in port and ensuring that our passengers are always kept safe, including in an emergency.

As a deck rating, you will have responsibility to

• Load, secure, unlash and discharge Containers and Vehicles on the Car Deck.
• Contribute to the security of the vessel at sea and in Port.
• Tend mooring lines as needed to keep ship against the berth.
• Carry out routine deck maintenance as needed, including life rafts, and rescue boats, as well as, keeping the outside decks, bathrooms and passenger lounge, in a clean and presentable condition.
• Garbage removal.
• Keep watch on the bridge when necessary and assist the Navigation (Deck) OGicer in a range of navigational, operational and cargo duties.
• Steer the ship when required by Master.
• The AB is required to participate in all drills and emergencies and to assist with the enforcement of rules, procedures, regulations, and pollution prevention.
